We offer muscadine vines in 3 different categories.

• 2 year Plus bare-root
• 2 year bare-root
• 2 year potted

Vines are available in 3 sizes. 2 year bare-root, 2 year potted and 2 year PLUS bare-root.

The 2 Year Plus bare-root muscadine vines are our finest plants.  These muscadine vines are 2 year old plants that have grown at or longer than 5 feet and have an excellent root system. The advantage of planting the 2 Year Plus muscadine vine is that the vine will already be at or close to your top wire at planting.  A friend of mine likes to use the saying “first class only cost 10% more“, this may not always be the case but for a few dollars more than the 2 year bare-root vine you can have the finest plants available for this season.  In my opinion these vines are geared for the back yard grower that is planting less than 30 plants.  A commercial grower many times wants to purchase the less expensive plants due to planting a substantial number of vines.

2 year bare-root muscadine vines are the majority of the vines that we grow.  These vines are 2 year old plants that are 3 to 5 feet in length with a very nice root system.  These muscadine vines are strong and healthy.  If you follow our pruning and fertilizer instructions these vines should grow up and down the wire the first growing season.  These vines are geared for both the backyard and commercial grower.  Value and quality meet with the 2 year bare-root muscadine vines.

2 year potted muscadine vines are sold in one gallon containers.  These muscadine vines are 2 year old plants that are 3 to 5 feet in length  with an excellent root system.  The advantage of choosing the potted muscadine vines is that it allows you to choose when you want to plant versus the bare-root vines that need to be planted right away.  The other advantage is that you know exactly how deep to plant the muscadine vine since it is in the container.  You will plant it at the soil line.  These muscadine vines are geared for the backyard grower that is use to planting container plants and likes the convenience of planting oh their schedule.

The 2 year plus bare-root and the 2 year bare-root muscadine vines were both grown in containers from the spring through early fall.  At that point we remove the plants from the pots and shake excess dirt off the roots.  Even though they are shipped bare-root you have the fibrous root system of a potted plant on the vines.

Regardless of which one you choose you will have success in growing the vines and enjoying wonderful muscadine grapes for years to come.  Just remember “first class only costs 10% more”.
