The Saanichton Kiwi variety is well suited for the backyard grower.  The fruit is large and sweet and ripens one week before Hayward. Produces a beautiful vine with very large passion flower-like blooms.  The fruit is the size of the fruit you see in the stores.  Bears early in 1 to 2 years.  A “fuzzy male” kiwi must be grown with Saanichton for fruit set.  Plant spacing is 15.  This variety is very cold hardy.

Pollinate with the male kiwi. (1 male Hardy Kiwi will pollinate 8 female kiwi. Male Hardy Kiwi plants do not bear fruit)
